Roger Smith lives with Patti, his wife of thirty-four years, on Lake Chickamauga near Chattanooga, Tennessee.
He has a BS in History from the USAF Academy and an MBA from the University of Northern Colorado. He retired from active duty as a Lieutenant Colonel in the Air Force in 1996 after more than twenty years service in world-wide assignments as a pilot in fighter aircraft.
In 1989 he served as the USAF in Europe Command Research Fellow during which time he wrote USAFE: A Two-edged Sword published by the Air University Press. He has also published numerous newspaper and magazine articles.
Since retirement from the USAF, he has been employed as a commercial pilot for Southwest Airlines where he flies regularly as a Boeing 737 Captain.
Roger is an avid student of American Colonial and Civil War history.
